Super Bowl Commercials

Am I allowed to mention the Super Bowl in a blog post or do I have to pay a licensing fee?  It would appear that a lot of the commercials are being released before the game.  WTF?  Now I have to watch the game?  I just watch the damn thing for the commercials.  Here's the Ferris Bueller commercial.  Acura is reintroducing their NSX with Jerry Seinfeld's help.  Toyota has invented a blender that plays Lionel Ritchie all night long.

Particle board is an engineered wood product manufactured from wood particles, such as wood chips, sawmill shavings, or even saw dust, and a synthetic resin or other suitable binder, which is pressed and extruded. Particleboard is a composite material. Particleboard is cheaper, denser and more uniform than conventional wood and plywood and is substituted for them when appearance and strength are less important than cost. However, particleboard can be made more attractive by painting or the use of wood veneers that are glued onto surfaces that will be visible. Though it is denser than conventional wood, it is the lightest and weakest type of fiberboard, except for insulation board. Medium-density fibreboard and hardboard, also called high-density fiberboard, are stronger and denser than particleboard. Different grades of particleboard have different densities, with higher density connoting greater strength and greater resistance to failure of screw fasteners.

Captain Bruce Hays was born December 29, 1965 in Merced, California. He graduated from Capitan (New Mexico) High School in 1984 and joined the U.S. Army. In 2008 Bruce was deployed to Afghanistan. Before he left, he bought a 1959 Chevy Apache pickup truck as an anniversary gift for his wife. Keeping it a secret, Bruce paid a local mechanic $17,000 to have the vehicle completed upon his return. Bruce was killed in action on Sept. 17, 2008. His family and friends later found out that the mechanic Bruce hired to restore the pickup did not complete the work on the vehicle and had left the area. By the time law enforcement caught up with the man, he had already spent all of the money and left the truck in several pieces. Stevinson Automotive offered help in the restoration of the 1959 Chevrolet Apache for Captain Bruce Hays’ wife and daughters. And here some some excellent photos of the truck's presentation to the Hays family.

Drunk people rule

I went to a club BBQ on Saturday night after shooting the GNRS.  One of our members had a couple of friends there from out of town that had started drinking way before they got to the party.  One girl in particular was very entertaining.  At one point she dropped her iPhone 4s on the ground which illicited a collective groan from the group.  But all was well, the phone was secured in an OtterBox case!  She proceeded to tell us in great detail what a great case it was and that the phone could not be broken.  In fact, we should throw that phone across the back patio into the back yard.  She actually gave the phone to a member of another club and proceeded to taunt him into the throwing the phone.  Of course there were some drunken rules that developed during the course of the taunting.  4 rules according to her.  You must throw it right or throw it left (there was a fence behind him that faced the street).  You can't hit the microwave (apparently Big Honking BBQ's look like microwaves to drunk people).  You can't throw it over the fence.  The final rule was that it was OK to break the phone, but it still had to be able to make a call in the morning so she could call her provider to get a new one.  The person who had the phone is not generally known for restraint but even he had enough respect for the phone to not immediately want to trash it.  He actually lasted longer than I did.  After 5 minutes I wanted to go grab that phone and chuck it myself.  In the end he threw that damn phone about 30 feet and nailed the fence.  She hustled over, retrieved the phone, and handed it back to him to show that it still worked.  He did what any red blooded minitrucker would do.  He once again nailed that fence from 30 feet away.  Her drunk ass ran over to the phone and it was still working!  It looked like she did have to reboot it though.  Througout the course of the night she slammed it straight down into the concrete at least 5 times.  Hard.  It hit the fence twice thanks to our mini truckin friend.  She also nailed the microwave (BBQ) once and the house once (right next to a window I might add).  Somebody named Daniel in her contact list now knows what an Eiffel Tower is because of several text messages not sent by her.  All in all, it was a good night.

I took two things with me from this party.  Drunk people rule, and I need to get one those OtterBox cases!

Look for a video of the whole thing in the next couple of weeks on the TRUCKRUN dot NET YouTube channel!

GNRS update

I walked my ass all over the GNRS yesterday just for you guys!  If I never have to take a picture of a black hotrod/classic again, I will die a happy man.  I mostly shot inside buildings.  Lil' Rob went on Sunday and shot more of the outside areas.  Click on the link below to see the latest pics!
